The plan of infrastructural interventions and museum reorganisation was developed according to an in-depth exploration of the initiatives scheduled by public and private authorities, both at a territorial and national level. The outline plan of the recovery interventions is organised during the five-year period from 2014 to 2018.
The objective is the creation of the "Ecomuseum" of the Great War through:

• The recovery of the sites keeping alive the memory of the First World War: war memorial cemeteries, forts, trenches, communication trenches, etc.
• The enhancement of the sites already included in tourist pathways and museums through the involvement of local communities.
• The setting up of a national network aimed to foster a cultural, educational and sustainable development of tourism, also destined to foreign visitors.

In agreement with the Ministry of Defence, which developed a complex project for the conservative restoration of War Memorials and Cemeteries closely related to WW1, nine conservative restoration interventions were selected:

• Six War Memorial in Italy  (Redipuglia, Cima Grappa, Asiago, Montello, Caduti d’Oltremare, Oslavia);
• Three war Cemeteries abroad (Bligny in France, Mauthausen in Austria, Caporetto in Slovenia).

Furthermore, some museum reorganisations are planned in the buildings surrounding the Italian War Memorials undergoing restoration, or in other Military Museums such as the Naval Museum in Venice; these activities are carried out through the most advanced multimedia technologies.
