Redipuglia and the house of the 3rd Army
In a framework thorough and immediate communication and storytelling, the “Great War Memorial” considers the Redipuglia War Memorial and the Museum of the House of the 3rd Army as the first step of an ideal Memory pathway.
The outline plan for Redipuglia, drafted by the Task Force of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers – shared with the Ministry of Defence, in agreement with the Italian War Graves Agency – and tackled by a suitably appointed Scientific Committee, represents a model for any subsequent activities, and is organised as a cultural, historical and “sensorial” pathway. It provides a way for entirely immersing oneself in the climate, the atmospheres, and sites, therefore allowing visitors to fully live the spirit of an epoch in its tormenting contradictions between the enthusiasm for the new century with its bright future perspectives, and the darkness of trenches.
All the above is possible through multimedia and interactive tools, sounds, lights, noises, smells, in an alternation of perceptive moments providing an immediate evocative power, and moments with a more traditional approach thanks to the use of photographs, historical documents, passages from literature, videos from the archives, relics and works of art, maps and music.
