The Interministerial Committee for the Centenary of the first world war
The Interministerial Committee for the Centenary of the First World War was established through a Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers dated 6th June 2013, and replaces a similar Committee set-up in 2012. It coordinates the planning, the preparation and organisation of the events related to the commemoration of the centenary of the First World War.
The Committee, operating within the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, intends to achieve the following objectives:
- obtain the utmost participation of the national population, with a particular involvement of families and schools;
- adopt an international perspective in relation to the initiatives to be promoted with the other Countries that participated in the First World War, particularly those involved in the Italian front;
- enhance the sites of memory, the historical, artistic and documentary heritage;
- implement and enrich the network of museums and the exhibition system.
