Silence
On July 27th, anniversary of the last day of peace in Europe before the outbreak of the First World War, a musical wave will propagate throughout the world. For this occasion Italy invited trumpeters from those Countries involved in the war, to play the same day the notes of 'Silence' in historically significant sites of the conflict, in order to remember universally the war victims.
It represents an act in their memory and a tribute, expressed in the only language universally shared and recognized: music.
The project, has been conceived by the journalist and writer Paolo Rumiz, with the art direction by trumpeter and composer Paolo Fresu who will play the Silence at 2 PM on the 27th of July in the Folgaria Plateau. As a moan, the last greeting to the victims of the First World War will be extended to other Nations where foreign musicians will play music of equal significance.
Several Countries will take part in this important initiative. The United Kingdom, Usa, Greece, Portugal, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, Costa Rica, Montenegro, Russia, Cuba, Poland, Serbia, Albania and FYROM. This tribute has been made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is part of the Italian Government’s Commemoration program realized by the Office for the Commemoration of Anniversaries of National Interest of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
