Central Archive of the State
A memorandum of understanding was also signed with the Central Archives of the State, which is in charge of preserving the documents produced by the departments and the central bureaux of the State as from the Unity of Italy.
The main idea is to collaborate in the framework of the centenary of the First World War, in order to highlight the varied quantity of documentary materials contained in the archives.
The Central Archives host the most important and relevant Great War Collection, including 18 volumes of correspondence of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, a Collection from the Ministry of Health, a photographic Collection from the Ministry of Weapons and Ammunitions, a Collection from the Ministry of the Interior with the news conveyed to the media during the war.
It also includes about 900 photographs (divided into three albums) on the First World War taken both behind the lines and at the front line of the Italian-Austrian Front by two officers of the General Staff: Francesco Tamburini and Luigi Marzocchi. The collection also includes 500 stereoscopic plates.
