The historical-scientific Committee for the anniversaries of national interest
The Historical-Scientific Committee for the Anniversaries of National Interest was established within the Presidency of the Council of Ministers – Department for Administrative Coordination, through a Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers dated 6th June 2013. Its main tasks include the coordination of the planning, the preparation and organisation of events related to the celebrations for the anniversaries of national interest, and replaces the Committee established with the previous Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers of 3rd August 2012.
The priority objectives of the present institution include:
- the arrangement of the programme of celebrations for the anniversaries of national interest;
- the promotion - in the framework of a constant coordination action - of the organisational activities falling within the competences of other institutions, by also starting relations with authorities and organisations involved in several respects in the celebrations for the anniversaries of national interest;
- the promotion and spreading, at a national and international level, and through mass media, of the events related to celebrations;
- the promotion of literary, artistic, cinematographic, audio-visual and photographic works, aimed to significantly portray to Italian citizens the values of national identity, history and memory.
The members of the Committee and the staff in charge of its operation are not entitled to any remuneration or reimbursement of expenses.
The present President of the Committee is Sen. Franco Marini
