Memories of Italy
This project involves every year 8,000 classes of First Grade Secondary Schools, 200,000 students and 8,000 teachers from the entire national territory, and aims to develop and support education. Starting from the idea of strengthening the sense of identity and belonging, students will be the protagonists of a true journey through time whose aim is to rediscover the cultural heritage and the sites of memory that are present in the regional territory (museums, monuments and documentaries on the First World War) by imagining lives in trenches and the daily character of that time, but also to recover witnessing, experiences and memories from family members.
The stories collected by students will be uploaded in a web platform to be used as an educational tool for classroom lessons, and will be evaluated by a national contest suitably organised by the daily of Turin ‘La Stampa’, Rai Storia and Rai Educational.
All the classes participating in the contest will receive free of charge kits containing a Vade-mecum with the texts of historians, a DVD with interviews to experts, a poster to be used as a basis for rediscovering monuments and documents, the Supplement of ‘La Stampa’ on the Great War, and a file with the first pages of the daily containing news on the events of the Great War.
